We’ve mentioned before that many of the poker rooms in Las Vegas offer freerolls for good customers. Good customers, of course, are those who put in a lot of hours in the room. The Stratosphere has been offering a monthly freeroll for some time based on a 40 hours of cash game play a month. But now they have changed up the actually freeroll format by offering what they are calling a “Retro Freeroll.”

It’s still 40 hours of play to qualify but the freeroll tournament itself has changed and will change every month. This month the freeroll will be Pineapple and next month Crazy Pineapple.

This is a chance for players to compete in regular cash games as they normally would, but then be rewarded with a freeroll tournament played with different games than the normal No Limit Hold’em.

Players are given one month to qualify for a tournament seat valued at $110. The freerolls are scheduled for the first Monday of each month, and players must log in at least 40 hours in a cash game before midnight on that day. Not only is the casino putting up the buy-in, but after calculating the total prize pool based on players times $110, the casino will also double the first-place prize. Players may buy directly into the tournament for $110.
