The hot item around Las Vegas Poker rooms right now is the “Loyalty Freeroll”. The competition is intense for poker players and rooms are offering a wide range of player incentives to attract your play. Basically, the Loyalty Freeroll rewards players for putting in a large number of hours in the same room. Typically the freeroll is held once a month and are determined by the number of hours played the prior month. The Las Vegas Hilton poker room is running an interesting variation right now; it’s what we might call “Variable Hour, Variable Chip Loyalty Freeroll.” Here is how the promotion works: If you play 40 hours in the Hilton poker room during the month, you qualify for the freeroll and will start with 800 chips. If you play 50 hours, your starting chips go up to 1,000. And if you play more than 60 hours, your starting stack goes to the maximum of 1,200. In addition, hours are double credited between 04:00 and 10:00 each morning. Twenty places are guaranteed to split the prizepool of $20,000. In recent tournaments more than half of the starting field finished in the money. Starting next month, I will be playing one freeroll promotion each month and reporting to you on my results.
