Fabrice Soulier, aka FABSOUL
Fabrice Soulier, born April 23rd, 1969 in Avignon, France is a professional poker player.

After getting a degree in international relations, Soulier became an assistant film director, and then director of a French TV series until 2000. He directed the series “A Guy and a Girl,” which received a Sept d’or award. He also worked as a director for the show “Farce Attaque” with Lurent Baffie in 1998, as well as children’s shows for the Canal J Channel. Fabrice Soulier left the screen to try his luck in the poker rooms of the United States. He dropped everything, and with a fairly limited bankroll, settled in New York and Las Vegas and became one of the few expatriate French players. Elegant by nature, he is the perfect incarnation of the “French touch” in poker, as his American adversaries have noted. Now, this French player is beginning to rack up impressive performances overseas. After having worked at his game at the tables at ACF, a Parisian gaming circle, and then concentrating on online poker for two to three years, Fabrice Soulier is today a professional poker player living in the United States. His name appears regularly among the top finishers at important tournaments. Fabrice has an impressive tournament record, and he has already played in three WSOP finals, among them a 10th place finish, a 5th place finish at the “Shooting Star” WPT final in San Jose, and a 13th place finish at the “World Poker Challenge” in Reno (another WPT tournament) in 2006. Farice had previously been the chip leader for two days during one of the most important American tournaments, the L.A. Poekr Classic in February, 2006, and he busted out just inside the bubble after a much talked-about showdown with the American actor James Woods. Fabrice says of the experience, “During the L.A. Poker Classic, I had an epiphany. Being the chip leader cleared up any doubts I had had facing the greatest players in the world. I feel better in general. Now I can look any opponent straight in the eyes. “Some big players helped me a lot at certain times. For example when I had that win in Los Angeles last February before the final table at the L.A. Poker Classic, Phil Ivey gave me some advice: ‘Go all in on a bluff and go down. It happens a lot to good players and it will happen to you,’ he said.” These recent results have earned Soulier the respect of the American professional poker scene. He was featured in the American magazine “Card Player” as one of the 5 best players in the world in a column called “Deep Stack” by Alan Goehring, a former financial analyst and winner of the L.A. Poker Classic in 2006. Fabrice Soulier, or “Fabsoul” on the Internet, finished first in Pokerrrom’s “ Grand Series of Poker,” an online championship made up of “high stakes” tournaments between April 24th and May 1st of 2006. This excellent finish will, however, most likely remain absent from the press. Fabrice was named ranked the number one French Poker player in 2001 and 2006. He was one of the featured characters in the documentary "That's poker" (Arte 2006) which follows the lives of 4 professional poker players in Las Vegas, and he created the online poker magazine “Madeinpoker” in June of 2007.
